Terraria is featherlight, so start small — a 24/7 vanilla world runs happily on ~2 GB. Mods have the biggest effect on RAM, but a larger world and a bigger, spread-out group add load too.
Every plan runs on Ryzen 9 9950X or EPYC 9374F · DDR5 ECC · NVMe. tModLoader is free on every tier.

The setup was super quick — I was up and running in less than 10 minutes. The control panel is clean and easy to navigate, even without much technical experience.

The whole point
A 24/7 Terraria world costs less than you think.
Terraria is 2D and featherlight — a full friend server runs on just 2 GB. So you pay a couple of euro a month for a world that's always online, and it's still on a Ryzen 9 9950X on our own network, not a budget box oversold 40 times.
Mods, without the faff. Enable Calamity on the server and joining players get the required mods automatically — no manual mod files. Auto-sync covers Steam Workshop mods; privately shared .tmod files still install manually. tModLoader is free on every plan.
Cheap, and actually real
From €3.20/mo for a 24/7 world. Featherlight game, real hardware — a Ryzen 9 9950X in our NorthC Nieuwegein datacenter, not a shared budget node.
tModLoader + Calamity, one-click
tModLoader is free on every plan. Enable Calamity, Thorium or Fargo's from the panel and it's live in seconds — your players auto-sync on join.
Classic, Expert, Master or Journey — pick the difficulty, size and seed when you generate the world, all from the panel. TShock adds admin, permissions and plugins on vanilla servers.

Cheap doesn't mean a junk box.
Every Terraria server runs on AMD Ryzen 9 9950X or EPYC 9374F with ECC RAM and NVMe SSDs, in our NorthC Nieuwegein datacenter over our own AS208112 transit. Terraria leans on one fast core — busy boss fights and events are CPU-bound — so a strong modern core is what keeps them smooth. Goliath DDoS filtering runs 24/7.

FAQ · Straight answers
Terraria server hosting — FAQ.
How much does a Terraria server cost?
OXY.Games Terraria plans start at €3.20/mo for a 2 GB Core — €2.56 for the first month — which comfortably runs a 24/7 vanilla world for up to 8 friends. They go up to €12.80/mo for an 8 GB Blaze. Add RAM only when you stack mods: Boost (4 GB · €6.40/mo) covers tModLoader and Calamity. We charge €1.60/GB and the first month is 20% off automatically at checkout.
Can I run mods and Calamity on my server?
Yes. tModLoader is free and one-click on every plan, with a curated installer for the big modpacks — Calamity, Thorium, Fargo's. Enable Calamity on the server and joining players get the required mods automatically — no manual mod files. Auto-sync covers Steam Workshop mods; privately shared .tmod files still install manually. Heavy stacked modpacks want ~4 GB (Boost) or ~6 GB (Surge).
Do my friends need to install the mods themselves?
No. Whatever mods you enable on the server, tModLoader pulls to each player automatically when they connect — no manual mod files. Change the mod list and players pick it up on their next join.
How much RAM does a Terraria server need?
Terraria is light — a small vanilla world runs on well under 1 GB, and ~2 GB (Core) comfortably handles a 24/7 world for up to 8 friends. Mods have the biggest effect on RAM, though a larger world and a bigger, spread-out group add load too. ~4 GB (Boost) is a good starting point for Calamity; large stacked modpacks may want 6 GB+. 8 GB is more than enough for nearly all Terraria servers — exceptional heavy modpacks can want more. These are OXY recommendations, not fixed requirements.
Vanilla or tModLoader — what's the difference?
Vanilla is the base game — the plain server binary, rock-solid, nothing to configure. tModLoader is the community mod loader that unlocks Calamity, Thorium, Fargo's and thousands of other mods. Both are free and one-click from the panel, and you can switch between them; a heavily modded world just wants a bit more RAM.
Is Terraria crossplay — can console players join?
OXY Terraria servers are for the PC edition. Full crossplay isn't live yet — Re-Logic has confirmed it's coming after the 1.4.5 hotfixes. Mobile players on 1.4.5 can already join a PC dedicated server like ours; console players can't yet. We'll enable crossplay the day Re-Logic ships it.
Can I move my existing world here?
Yes. Send us your world save — the .wld file (and its .twld sidecar if it's modded) plus your enabled mod list — and we'll set it up, vanilla or modded, free with every plan, usually done under an hour.
How many players can join?
A Terraria server supports up to 255 players; the default cap is 16, and you set your own limit from the panel. Mods and world size are the main drivers of RAM, though a bigger, spread-out group adds load too — so even a small tier comfortably holds a friend group.
Do I need to own the game to run a server?
The dedicated-server software is free and there's no separate server licence. Every player needs their own legitimate PC copy of Terraria — the Steam edition is recommended for tModLoader and Workshop mods, but GOG copies work too.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — 3 days free on Core (2 GB), no card required. A Terraria server costs almost nothing to run, so the trial is a real 2 GB world, not throttled hardware. Spin it up, invite your friends, load tModLoader and decide after.
